MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS… LOW BACK PAINLow back painLow back pain is pain in the lower back, located between the thoracolumbar junction and the gluteal fold. In the vast majority of cases it is described as common (non-specific): it is mechanical in origin and does not stem from a serious disease.Read the full entry : Low back pain, DISC DISEASE, HERNIATED DISCHerniated discA herniated disc is the localized displacement of part of the intervertebral disc, most often the nucleus, through a tear in the annulus fibrosus. It can irritate or compress a nerve root, but it is also frequently painless.Read the full entry : Herniated disc, AFTER SPINE SURGERY, SPINAL FUSION… PERINEAL PAIN, PUDENDAL AND CLUNEAL NEURALGIACluneal neuralgiaCluneal neuralgia is pain linked to irritation of the cluneal nerves, small sensory nerves of the skin of the buttock. Depending on the branch involved, it is felt in the upper buttock and lower back, or in the lower buttock, sometimes markedly when sitting.Read the full entry : Cluneal neuralgia, TAILBONE PAIN, SIT BONE PAIN… ENDOMETRIOSIS, FIBROMYALGIA… REMOTE WORK, DRIVING, LONG HOURS OF SITTING…

The 12 biomechanical levers of Aporia®

By engaging these levers as one interdependent whole, Aporia® supports the body’s natural capacity to adapt,
to support comfort and limit functional stresses when sitting.

▾1. Continuous dynamic stability

The problem: static sitting locks posture in place, which favors postural fatigue and lower-back strain.

What Aporia® does: the mobile curved base and the 4 articulated pads create a field of dynamic stability: every micro-movement is supported without loss of balance.

Result: continuous postural balancePostural balancePostural balance is the ability to keep or restore the projection of the center of mass within the base of support, both at rest and in motion. When sitting, it involves the trunk, the pelvis and the hips.Read the full entry : Postural balance, without conscious effort.

▾2. Pelvic mobility restored

The problem: standard seats lock the hips, fix the pelvis in place and compress the tissues.

What Aporia® does: the mobile base and the 4 independent pads allow three-dimensional pelvic mobilityPelvic mobilityPelvic mobility is the pelvis's ability to change orientation relative to the spine and the femurs: forward or backward (anterior and posterior pelvic tilt), sideways (lateral tilt) and in rotation.Read the full entry : Pelvic mobility, close to that of standing.

Result: a freer pelvis, mobile hips, a living posture.

▾3. Fewer postural compensations

The problem: when one area (pelvis, sacrum) is fixed, the body compensates elsewhere, creating secondary stresses.

What Aporia® does: by combining pelvic mobility and dynamic stability, Aporia® counteracts a main cause of these compensations.

Result: a better-balanced posture, less “shifted” tension.

▾4. Less muscular holding effort

The problem: instability forces constant compensating muscle effort.

What Aporia® does: continuous dynamic stabilization limits unnecessary muscle activation.

Result: less musculoskeletal tension.

▾5. More even pressure distribution

The problem: static cushions spread pressure at rest… but movement creates localized peaks.

What Aporia® does: the mobile curved surface and the 4 pads continuously redistribute the load with each micro-movement.

Result: more even pressure, whatever the sitting position.

▾6. Tissue gliding

The problem: immobility hinders the natural gliding between tissue layers (fasciaFasciaFascia are connective tissue structures that envelop, connect or separate certain parts of the body. The "fascial system" refers to a broader set of connective tissues considered in their functional continuity.Read the full entry : Fascia, muscles, nerves, vessels).

What Aporia® does: the 4 independent pads accompany micro-movementsMicro-movementsSmall-amplitude movements that can take part in continuous postural adjustments and vary support and stress without a complete change of position.Read the full entry : Micro-movements and support the relative mobility of the tissues.

Result: more mobile tissues.

▾7. A pelvic floor kept in motion

The problem: a fixed pelvis gradually disengages the pelvic floorPelvic floorThe pelvic floor is a deep group of muscles and connective tissues located in the lower part of the pelvis. It contributes to the support of the pelvic organs, to sphincter function and to the mechanical coordination of the abdominopelvic complex.Read the full entry : Pelvic floor muscles.

What Aporia® does: the restored mobility of the pelvis gently engages these muscles, without conscious effort or an imposed posture.

Result: more balanced muscle tone and functional relaxation.

▾8. Adapted to your spinal profile

The problem: standard seats do not adapt to the curves specific to each spine.

What Aporia® does: the wedge system adjusts the tilt of the seat to find a neutral alignment, in motion.

Result: a better-fitting posture, without forced correction.

▾9. Targeted relief through geometry

The problem: a “universal” geometry never fully relieves a sensitive area.

What Aporia® does: depending on the version (Standard, Périnée, Coccyx, Canyon), the geometry mechanically takes the load off the targeted area.

Result: immediate mechanical relief of the sensitive area.

▾10. Fewer indirect compressions

The problem: secondary compressions build up through accumulated tension and tissue adhesions.

What Aporia® does: dynamic stability, pelvic mobility and tissue gliding counteract mechanical causes of these indirect compressions.

Result: fewer “invisible” compressive stresses.

▾11. Against stillness and tissue stiffening

The problem: prolonged immobility favors tissue stiffening and mechanical stillness.

What Aporia® does: restored mobility and tissue gliding counteract these mechanical conditions.

Result: more mobile tissues and more comfort when sitting.

▾12. Less shear

The problem: micro-sliding of the pelvis creates shearShearShear is a deformation produced by forces parallel or tangential to a surface, which cause neighboring layers or regions of a tissue to slide relative to one another.Read the full entry : Shear between the skin and deeper tissues.

What Aporia® does: the dynamic structure lets the tissues “glide with” the seat rather than “against” it.

Result: reduced shear, protected tissues.

SBNFA™ — Reference framework

SBNFA™ (Systemic Biomechanical Neuro-Fascial Adaptive framework; French original: Système Biomécanique Neuro-Fascial et Adaptatif) is the conceptual framework behind Aporia®. It describes how biomechanical and neuro-fascial mechanisms continuously adapt to internal and external stresses, to support comfort and postural balance when sitting, without imposing a fixed or “corrective” posture.
